North Sikkim

The famous Shingbha Rhododendron sanctuary as well as the Khanchendzonga National Park is located here. For the botanist, an animal and nature lover Darjeeling offers several places of interest. During spring time, the meadows of Yumthang, Lachen, and Lachung abound with wildflowers, which carpet the valley in a riot of colors. South Sikkim

A 108 ft high image of the patron saint of Sikkim, Guru Padmashambhava is situated near the district headquarters at Namchi. Ravangla offers trekking up to Maenam and Tendong Hill here. Namchi – Needs special mention cause it’s a hot seat for Buddhist and it’s foundation laid by Nobel Laureate his holiness the Dalai Lama. Samdruptse (Fulfilling wishes) situated near Namchi with a 135 ft. statue of Guru Padmasambhava  also known as Guru Rimpoche is the highest statue in the world, the statue is a symbol of love, compassion, peace  and harmony and is worth visiting. The birth anniversary is celebrated in the 10th day of the 6th month of the Tibetan calendar with great splendor and is a treat to watch.
